The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the philosophy, purpose, and function of news media in a democratic society. Students will be introduced to a range of core themes, including identifying story ideas, researching information, evaluating sources, interviewing, writing, and editing. Students will also be introduced to the fundamental ethical and legal concepts that underpin newswriting.
