Liberal Arts A detailed examination of financial markets and institutions. The course examines the influence of financial markets and financial institutions on the availability of external finance, the terms of finance and the market valuation of publicly traded stocks, bonds, mortgages and derivatives. Of special interest are the roles of financial markets and institutions in pricing market risk and the allocation of scarce loanable funds. This course relies heavily on the student’s ability to understand and apply the time value of money, the relationship between risk and required return, and the steps required to value stocks, bonds and mortgages.
