This course provides an overview of what it takes to lead and manage effective nonprofit organizations. The class includes an overview of the history, structure, and role of the nonprofit sector, including how nonprofit agencies differ from the private sector and government in their mission, governance, funding, and staffing. The class provides students with the opportunity to engage with real-world challenges and develop innovative solutions for organizations concerned with improving their local communities as well as the lives of individuals around the world. Topics covered include nonprofit leadership, board development, social entrepreneurship, fundraising, and development.
