This course examines the evolution of education in the United States and the role of the teacher in the educational process. Contemporary educational thought and policy are studied, as well as the standards and expectations of the teaching profession, organizational patterns of schools, and the intellectual foundations upon which the practice of education rests. Course content will assist candidates in assessing their commitment to, and readiness for, teaching.
