EDUC373N - Principles of Instruction for Students with Special Needs 3 Credit(s)
Non Liberal Arts This course introduces candidates to the basic principles of instruction and classroom management, and helps them acquire teaching skills that, while appropriate and useful for all children, are essential for helping children with disabilities to learn. Strategies for students who have intellectual disabilities, specific learning disabilities and behavior disorders are emphasized. Candidates learn about the major research efforts that form the foundation of the body of professional knowledge in teaching, examine the generalizations and principles that are drawn from the research findings, and begin to use these principles in small-group teaching experiences with their peers and in class discussions of teaching cases. 10 hours of fieldwork is required.
