An introduction to the craft of poetry, designed to offer students direct experience in writing poetry and to heighten their awareness of the imaginative potential of language. Students gain practice in formal elements of verse, experimenting with a wide variety of traditional and nontraditional approaches. The workshop emphasizes group discussions of the student’s own work, along with consideration of various contemporary models.
