The student is guided through all phases of the production of technical documents, including research and visual presentation of information. The focus of the course, however, is on clear and effective technical writing. As such, writing and editing assignments are designed to help the student appreciate the special requirements of technical communication. Documents covered include usability studies, technical reports, and hypertexts. Through these assignments, the student learns to apply a variety of word-processing technologies and desktop-publishing capabilities. Students also work in teams on a client-based project.
