An advanced translation course aimed at developing specialized vocabulary and reading skills in fields relevant to current affairs and to students’ customized fields of study (politics, science, business, cultural analysis, law, arts, etc.). Course material is drawn almost entirely from Internet resources to illustrate the principal syntactic, lexical and cultural challenges of professional translation. Special attention is paid to the use and limits of online machine translation and to the distinct demands of simultaneous interpretation. May also be taken abroad.
