Liberal Arts This course will help students use media to more effectively communicate ideas, perspectives, and knowledge. Students will be introduced to the aesthetic principles of designing interactive media, including composition, color, navigation, typography, layout, texture, interactivity, iconography, and imagery. There will be hands-on practice in character sketching and storyboarding, visual research, paper prototyping, web design, and basic animation. Topics include visual signification, the social and aesthetic functions of the image, DIY, and the language of emerging media. The focus will be on digital, interactive and screen media, such as games, apps, websites, and mobile. Film, television, comics and print media will also be included. No prior knowledge or technical expertise is required.
