Liberal Arts This course introduces students to the study of television from theoretical and critical perspectives and to the practice of academic research in television studies. Students will learn to identify, evaluate, and apply research findings in the development of an original research project. This course will provide the student with the tools to critically study television both as an art and as a cultural barometer. The student will learn various critical methodologies drawn from other arts - film, literature, drama, and other performing arts. The methodologies will include criticism from socioeconomic, historical, mythological, psychological, semiotic, quantitative, and sociological perspectives.
Offered When: Fall and as necessary. Prerequisite(s): MDIA 101L , MDIA 120L , sophomore standing.
