 This course focuses on a concentrated area of cinema studies, utilizing classroom screenings, selected readings, seminar discussions, and the development of a critical writing project. Possible topics include: genres (e.g., Horror, Art Cinema); film auteurs (e.g., Alfred Hitchcock, Federico Fellini); film movements (e.g., French New Wave, Cinema Novo); National Cinema (e.g., American, Italian, British, German); and themes. May be taken up to three times under different topics.
