POSC 210L - Constitutional Law: National Powers

3 Credit(s)

Liberal Arts
Triple listed as PRLG 206L  and HIST 210L  This course explores the role of the Constitution in American National Government. The course is divided into four sections. The first introduces several theoretical questions such as what is a constitution, who should interpret the constitution, and how should they interpret it? After examining the complexities involved in interpreting the Constitution, we will move on to explore how the fragile institutions of American National Government matured and evolved. We address this question by examining the development and elaboration of judicial power, federalism, and separation of powers. All of these themes are addressed through Supreme Court cases and philosophical writings.
