Liberal Arts In this class we will attempt to figure out where human rights reside - with the individual, with the state, with a regional body or on the international level by looking at the historical development of the idea and theory of human rights. We will look at the development of the mid-20th century Universal Declaration of Human Rights guided by Eleanor Roosevelt and its counter, the Arab Charter on Human Rights. We will examine the concept and theory of human rights and arguments for their protection.
