Liberal Arts Study of the major schools and theorists in sociology today. Focus on such schools as functionalism, symbolic interactionism, the conflict school, exchange theory, and social action theory; and on such theorists as Parsons, Merton, Marx, Homans, Gouldner, Blau, Dahrendorf, Coser, and Durkheim. The course explores congruence in theory and possible directions of future theory.
Prerequisite(s): SOC 101L and an upper-level Sociology course; priority to Social Work majors
