SOC480L - Social Research Methods 3 Credit(s)
Liberal Arts This course introduces the student to the application of scientific methods to uncover the regularities in social reality. The objective is to have students carry out their own research designs. Topics include: hypothesis formation; model building; causation; reliability and validity constraints; experimental protocols; interview techniques; survey data collection, including defining a probability sample; preparing scales; and data analysis. Employment of basic descriptive statistics, measures of dispersion, and correlation. Priority to Social Work majors
Prerequisite(s): SOC 101L , SOC 440L ; Recommended: MATH 130L
