BUS438N - Technical Analysis and Behavioral Finance

3 Credit(s)

Non Liberal Arts
A core assumption in finance has been that financial markets are “efficient” and that investors behave rationally. There is, however, a growing body of research and empirical evidence that suggests that investor behavior is influenced by cognitive and behavioral biases and other factors. In this course we shall examine common biases that investors may exhibit, drawing on insights from psychology and behavioral economics. We shall also use technical analysis to investigate supply and demand trends and gain insight into investor behavior, and explore how market practitioners can combine fundamental and technical analysis when making investment decisions.
