Students enrolled in crisis communication learn what constitutes and causes organizational crises, the crisis life cycle, and the ongoing crisis management process including proactive steps to take during the pre-crisis phase, how to respond during the crisis phase, and how to follow up with stakeholders and evaluate crisis communication during the post-crisis phase. Students develop an understanding of effective crisis leadership and the costs of mismanaging a crisis as well as demonstrate proficiency in developing a crisis management plan and conducting a crisis press conference and spokesperson media training.
