ITAL310L - Sustainable Made in Italy 3 Credit(s)
Liberal Arts This course will introduce students to Italy as an economic and design capital of the world within the global economy and world culture in four distinct areas: fashion, food/agriculture, furniture design, and automation/mechanics. Discussion will center on the ways in which the MADE IN ITALY trademark reacts and adjusts to the global demand for sustainable, eco-friendly, and net-zero emissions products, as well as the governmental program, “Made Green in Italy”. Several case studies will be examined along with the long traditions and historical advancements (ie. DaVinci’s technological drawings; Pellegrino Artusi’s first Italian cookbook; the Medici family as a fashion influencer) that have attributed to the success of, as well as demand for, MADE IN ITALY products and across the globe.
