3 Credit(s)

Liberal Arts
Dual listed as ENSC 202L  Environmental policy touches on nearly Every aspect of human life - physical, political, economic, and social - and involves a large cast of characters, including local, state, national and international governments as well as non-governmental interest groups, scientists and the public. For these reasons, the environmental policy process is both complex and deeply consequential for our society. In this course, we will examine the political process as it relates to environmental issues and concerns. We will apply the politics of the environment to particular issues such as air and water pollution, land management, species protection, energy production and use, and climate change. The goal is to help you develop a critical understanding of how environmental policy is made, what challenges and opportunities exist for enacting and implementing policies, and how the process can be improved.
