Requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry


Note: A minimum of 60 credits in Liberal Arts is required. 

Credit Requirement in Chemistry: 44 cr


Students seeking ACS certification must take CHEM 420L , CHEM 423L , CHEM 430L , and CHEM 431L .

2.0 Course Requirements in Related Fields: 19 cr


Total Credit Requirement for a Major in Chemistry: 63 cr


**PHYS 221L - Modern Physics  may be substituted for either PHYS 211L  or PHYS 212L  with departmental approval
***PHYS 222L - Modern Physics Lab  may be substituted for either PHYS 213L  or PHYS 214L  with departmental approval

Students majoring in Breadth areas may apply a maximum of 6 credits to their distribution total. If applicable to a Pathway, 3 credits may come from disciplines outside of Core Breadth areas. Although foreign language and culture courses are not required within the Core, some courses in these fields may be used to fulfill distribution requirements.
